Michigan's holiday fair weekend is underway in Novi, where visitors can explore agricultural exhibits, carnival attractions and live entertainment before the gates close on Monday.
The 2026 Michigan State Fair is open for its Labor Day weekend run at the Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi, Michigan. The event began September 3 and continues through Monday, September 7, according to the organizer and FOX 2 Detroit's opening-day report. For people planning a visit this weekend, the remaining dates offer a chance to see agricultural displays and entertainment at the same venue rather than travel between separate festival sites.
The fairgrounds are at 46100 Grand River Avenue, between Novi and Beck roads. The organizer directs drivers approaching on Interstate 96 to the Novi Road or Beck Road exits, and says parking is available without charge on a first-come basis. Attendants direct arriving vehicles to available spaces, while the site's parking rules prohibit leaving vehicles in fire lanes, in front of marked exits or on unpaved areas.
Visitors should distinguish the fair's closing time from its admission cutoff when planning their arrival. The organizer's daily schedule lists a 7 p.m. entrance and box-office cutoff, followed by an 8 p.m. fair closing time. It also says reentry is not allowed after the box office closes, so an evening visit requires arriving before the final operating hour rather than treating that hour as an entry window.
The program combines livestock and agricultural activities with the familiar midway mix of rides, games and food. It also requires minors to have a parent or guardian present, a condition families should account for before arranging a drop-off or separate arrival. Visitors choosing a particular show should check its admission terms when buying, since entry to the grounds does not automatically cover every attraction.
The Novi event remains an active holiday-weekend outing through Labor Day, rather than an announcement about a fair still to come. Planning around the gate cutoff, ticket inclusions and the organizer's daily program can help visitors match the remaining fair days to the exhibits and performances they want to see.
